Summer Hair Accessories
It's Memorial Day Weekend, the unofficial start of summer! The sun's up and it's about to get hot. And if you're like us, we like to keep our hair cute but out of our faces. Remember, if your hair's in your face while you're sweating it up, you can easily break out. So here are our pick of summer hair accessories.
Goody's Spin Pin
We swear by these. It's one of our must haves. Twist your hair into a bun, and twist these into the bun. They hold secure and are hidden in your hair. They come in blonde or brunette for around $6, but totally worth it! You can find them in most drug stores, Target, and Walmart.
Scunci's Expandable Ponytailer
Sadly this holds ponytails loosely unless you've got a thick mane. But fortunately, they're perfect for buns! They close small so it fits in your purse.
Headbands
Headbands keep hair out of the way, but we like them just because they're cute. Channel your inner Blair Waldorf. There are so many types of headbands out there: thin, thick, plastic, metal, with ribbons, with flowers, with jewels, etc. We got ours from Urban Outfitters. Okay fine, it was $18 but it's adorable and we couldn't resist. Get cheaper but just as cute ones from other retailers like Target, LoveCulture.com, Forever 21, and even drugstores like Walgreens and CVS.
Flower Hair ties
Ponytails can have the cute factor with flower hair ties, or any other hair tie with an embellishment on it. Can't find one or don't want to buy one? Make your own!
You'll need one hair tie and one embellishment with a pin on it. You can also use a broach, just secure it firmly because it will be heavy. You can also use punk pins. Here's ours.
Head scarves
Scarves aren't just for Winter. Oh alright, you do have to use a lightweight scarf so it will wrap securely on your head. And they need to be wide enough. We scored this scarf on sale for $2 from Tilly's.
There are many ways to wrap your head with a scarf, but we like this tutorial from ClothesAndStuff.
We've told you what our summer hair accessories are. Tell us yours!

Ribbons
Ribbons are versatile and come in all sizes, colors, and patterns. You can use ribbons to tie your hair in a ponytail or as a headband (use bobby pins to secure them in place). Or do what we did. Wrap, twist, and tie a ribbon around a any plain ol' headband and voila! A new accessory. You can secure loose ends with a clear tape. Don't worry, it won't show because it will be tucked behind your ear and most likely covered by your hair.Head scarves
