Here's our recipe for meat lasagna, adapted from a complicated family recipe.

Serves 9-10

  • 1 medium green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 16oz tomato sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 dried bay leaf
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 box lasagna
  • 1 jar of your favorite alfredo sauce
  • 1 can (12.8oz) can of Nestle table cream
  • 3 cups grated cheese, cheddar & swiss

Procedure

  • Prepare meat filling
    • Saute garlic, onion, and bell pepper
    • Add and brown ground beef, adding salt & pepper to taste
    • Add tomato sauce, ketchup, and bay leaf
    • Boil on medium-high heat until meat is cooked through and sauce reduced a little
    • Taste for seasoning
    • Take off heat and set aside
  • Cook lasagna pasta according to box directions. Drain and set aside.
  • In a bowl, mix alfredo sauce and table cream
  • Put lasagna together in 9x13 microwave safe casserole dish
    • Layer meat, sauce, grated cheese, pasta (in this order)
    • Repeat
    • Top everything with meat, sauce, and cheese
  • Microwave for 8-10 minutes (rotate the casserole dish halfway) or until cheese is melted and sauce heated through.
Tips!
If you don't want to use the microwave, you can use your oven, of course. But we've always use the microwave...so if you want us to guess baking times...350°F until cheese is golden brown?
