Valentine's Day Date Ideas

Check out our Valentine's Day Date Ideas 2012, because you can still totally do them! Now let's add to the list.

1. Paint your own pottery. The idea is simple. You pick an item you want to paint (mug, plate, vase, etc), you paint it, the store fires it up (bakes it so the paint sets), and you take it home (after paying). Yelp "paint your own pottery" to find stores near you, or check out Color Me Mine, they have many locations. You can paint your own item or paint it for each other! Not only is this a fun and easy activity you can do together, you get to take home a usable souvenir and a memory.

2. Attend a music/fine arts event or festival. Search your local newspaper, your city's events website, or even Craigslist for a music or fine arts event or festival. They usually have cheap or free admission, and you get to walk hand-in-hand taking in the music and looking at art. And if you end up buying each other souvenirs, you are supporting local artists.

2.a. Attend other events. Keep searching and you'll find many different kinds of events around your area that you can attend together. Ideas include: school or local theater productions, author book reading/signing, and one-night only movie screenings.

3. Exercise together. With companies like Groupon, you can get deals on many drop-in fitness classes, from dance to yoga to kickboxing. Or ask around your local gyms, community centers, and YMCAs. There are many drop-in classes that only cost a small fee. Or jog/run at the park together. Do yoga at the beach other. Work up an appetite so you can continue your date into dinner time. Plus, "Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy" (Elle, Legally Blonde).

3.a. Play sports together. There are advantages to playing a sport together. Not only are you getting in some exercise, it can bring you closer to each other. For example, you can teach each other the right way to hold a bat, a tennis racket, or a pool stick. Up close and personal, who knew sweat can be romantic?

4. Go to an arcade. Channel your inner children! Arcades are fun. Compete for the most tickets or work together for that ultimate prize. Be a kid again. Play! Laugh! Love!

5. Have a photoshoot. With the advent of smart phones with extremely good cameras, you don't need an expensive fancy shmancy camera to get great photographs. But if you have one, take it with you. Drive to a diverse location like the city center where there are many different kinds of buildings, fountains, art installments, etc. to interact with. Walk around with your cameras on hand and snap pictures of each other, or bring a tripod to snap both of you together! Then make an album with your pictures or Instagram them!
